About Us
The Richmond-Tweed Regional Library was established in January 1971, when Lismore City Council and Ballina Shire Council signed an agreement to develop a joint free public library service. They were quickly joined by Byron Shire Council and Tweed Shire Council, and the Richmond-Tweed Regional Library Service was created. Since then, with the strong support of these four councils, the Regional Library has grown and now offers a broad range of services including books, magazines, cds, videos, and dvds all available for free home loan. An extensive range of eResources can also be accessed by using your computer and internet connection from the convenience of your home.
Currently the Regional Library serves a rapidly growing regional population of approximately 215,000, over 50% of whom are registered library members. All service points offer a comprehensive free public library service, including free access to the internet (for library patrons) including the mobile library.
With over 400,000 items available for free home loan why not visit your local library and join today.
Our Vision is:
To strengthen our communities with a comprehensive, innovative, contemporary and relevant library service; an accessible welcoming gateway to lifelong learning to entertain, empower, enrich, inspire and inform everyone.
